Namazu

 Daniel -

Namazu is the Japanese Deity of earthquakes depicted in Japanese mythology. He is seen as a huge catfish stuck beneath a rock from which he cannot escape from. From a different point of view, this can be depicted as him occurring the earthquakes under the rock or beneath the island of Japan.

Origins
Over time the Japanese archipelago has suffered lots of devastating earthquakes over the years with it having 10% of the world's seismic activity. People in japan made mythology to represent the earthquakes that are happening on their island. they depicted the earthquakes as a catfish named Namazu and that he rattles around his tails making the rock shake off his back. Representing the island of Japan on top of Namazu or the earthquakes.
