Matariki is a celebration time of the year where the harvest from seasons is plentiful and the before coming of Winter. Matariki has a cluster of about 9 stars in total including the parents and the children. It is also important for the Maori Culture as this is their way of restarting their Maori calendar. Matariki was used to determine the harvests each year dictating if it was good enough to harvest just before Winter. Matariki lasts about 3 days and is celebrated both in North Island and South Island in New Zealand. It could be perceived as the Maori New Year. It has some significant influence in agriculture in relevance to the Maori culture.

Hello Daniel
ReplyDeleteNice blogpost, I learnt a lot about the Star of Matariki. I like that you even added a photo, so that is a plus one. Maybe next time, you could add a photo, but over all, great job.
