How does this work show my learning? by making paragraph about symbols
What am I wondering as the result of this learning? How did the director come up with these cool ideas.
The Key
Pictures = references
In Coraline, A point of view shot about the black key was used precisely. For instance Selick used a point of view shot to portray the black key when coraline found the door. This shows us the capability of the black key as it can open the strange small door as the other keys would not. The director did this to make the key look like a plot device, as the person who wields it can cross dimensions and such. Coinciding with this, as Coraline goes into a deep slumber a strange rat suddenly started to attract the attention of Coraline, thus she followed the rat which leads to the strange door. This reminds the second time Coraline approaches the secret door as the situation was the same but Coraline was more eager to into the other world considering how wonderful it was there.
The Button Eyes
Pictures = references
But that was not the end of the fascinating mysteries that the film Coraline holds. A high angle shot was used to display the buttons. For instance when the director used a high angle shot to exhibit the button when the other mother gave Coraline her own black button eyes. This helped me see that the other mother had intentions to corrupt Coraline and gradually devour her soul as everything that lives in the other world has the button eyes. Henry did this to make us examine the button eyes as they look empty and disturbing as the normal features of a normal person's eyes or body wouldn't apply to the button. Coinciding with this. Coraline decline the offer of having the eyes thus the other mother starts to show her true colors. The reminds me the time when the other father was being painfully manipulated somehow but shows no sign of pain.
