Acid Rain - Ex-per-e-ment

What is Acid Rain?
Acid rain is made of certain types of gases that turn acidic when it comes into contact with air or wind
How does it from?
it starts off from some facilities that normally produce smokes for example buildings like nuclear power plants. Then following up the rain cycle, it vaporizes towards the ground or environment such as forests and natural areas.
Why does acid rain matter?
it matters because of its corrosive and devastating effects on the environment and the living beings that dwell in it. It also affects the ocean as the acidic rain pours down to the sea it could make it a lot less safe for the fishes to live in.

Method
1. Set up the Petri dish
2. Add a few drops of water to these
3. Add 1 spatula of sodium sulfide to weigh boat.
- take starting photo
4. add 5 drops of sulfuric acid and quickly put the lid on
5. observe and check the results.

Observation
-The blue litmus paper turned red which makes it acidic
-The Universal Indicator and bromothymol Blue liquid turned yellow - not sure if we did it right
the right way
- The Universal turned red/yellow/greenish
- Bromothymol Blue liquid started to change color into light yellowish color
- The calcium carbonate to start to be in lumps
- The leaf starts to lose its color from its original state/color.

Simile/Metaphor

He was fast as a cheetah.
He was sturdy as a rock.
He was light as a feather.
He was quick at numbers like a calculator.
He went past me as swift as the wind.
He was proud as a lion when he did something courageous
He was as cold as winter
His eyes look like as if they were clear blue skies
He was as tall as a mountain

His imaginations were as wide as the ocean

"First" Solo Performance : Music

What instrument are you playing and why?
The instrument I decided to do was initially piano/keyboard, but for now, I want to experience other instruments, so that I'm really limited to one instrument. Also, I wanted to pursue and play guitar again.

Which song have you chosen to perform and why?
The song " Deathbed" by Powfu, Prod by Beabadoobee. I liked the message behind the song and how it was so true and straight to the point about those kinds of stereotypes.

What type of assessment are you doing and why?
I planned to pick option 2, but I changed my mind, and instead, I want to pursue my passion for music and learn more about it and overall it helps me overcome my fear of having to stand in stage and perform.

Social Study - Research

What you have been learning about?
For the past weeks in social studies, We have been researching about countries who are in dire crisis about its refugees and its current world problems.

What have you found interesting?
What I found interesting is one particular piece of information or article I stumbled upon. It was about Syria's current president having odd changes. like before he was president Syria was a lot more peaceful and not really affected by conflict, but I wasn't really sure if this was legitimate information or just pure resentment towards the mentioned peoples.

Reflection : Music

What instrument did you choose to learn and why?
I choose to learn bass for semester one to just see and get a feeling of how it likes to play bass.

What song did you choose to learn and why? we did 'another one bites the dust'
by Queen, we did due to the genre that was given to us

What was challenging about this piece and how did you overcome the challenges?
It was quite challenging as we lost quite a lot of time due to pandemic. What I did to overcome this challenge was to practice at home until I finally am where I was back before the pandemic

Were you happy with your final recording/performance? why?
Yes, although it wasn't really at its best, I am still content with it

What would you change about your performance if you could do it again?
probably pick a genre that I am much more interested in.

Were you happy with your overall grade and why?
yes. I am content with it

What have you enjoyed about Music this semester?
I enjoyed mostly the performing part despite me being stage shy, but I really did like the performing part of the semester.
